My name is Karen Duffy and I am a board certified psychotherapist in Sonoma County. I offer in person and online therapy for residents of California.
I hold a BS in Psychology from San Francisco State university and an MS degree in counseling from Sonoma State university.
In my 15 years of professional counseling experience I have worked in a wide array of settings, in elementary schools all the way to alternative high school. I have experience with individuals, couples and families in non profit counseling agencies. I have worked for 15 years with the homeless population in a variety of programs with folks who are unhoused, in shelters or living in communal housing where I have conducted groups, psychoeducational classes and crisis management. The tenacity and survival instinct of the human spirit is truly humbling for me!
As a Latina mother and spouse in a mixed race family, I deeply value the complexity of identity, culture, and relationships, and I understand how these layers shape the challenges we face. My background spans community mental health, inpatient psychiatry, integrated primary care, and private practice, and I’ve worked with people across the lifespan, from children in school based therapy to older adults living with Alzheimer’s and the families who love them. Wherever you are in life, I’d be honored to walk alongside you.
