Hi, I’m Janet Crisp, MSW, LCSW, CSAT-C, a trauma-informed therapist and founder of NuYu Counseling Center.
I help individuals, parents, and families heal from pain that feels too heavy to carry alone. Whether that’s trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, abuse, relationship difficulties, sex addiction, or addiction.
I also support betrayed partners as they navigate the shock, anger, grief, loss of trust, and uncertainty that can follow betrayal.
In addition, I work with teens and adults who struggle with anger, emotional regulation, and/or unhealthy behavioral patterns.
My approach blends CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, and Psychoeducation with compassion and accountability.
You don’t need to have it all figured out — you just need to take the first step. I’ll meet you where you are and help you move toward healing, growth, and a New You. 🌱
I got my start working in a residential setting, supporting people through serious mental health challenges, trauma, and addiction. That experience shaped how I see therapy, it’s not just clinical, it’s about feeling understood and not alone in what you’re going through. I now work with people dealing with things like trauma, emotional ups and downs, and substance use, and I’m trained in EMDR. While I have experience with more intense situations, I also work with people who feel stuck, reactive, or disconnected and want to understand why.
Since 2017, I’ve supported clients of all ages through experiences of trauma, grief, and life transitions. My style is warm, collaborative, and centered around your unique needs. I draw from trauma-informed and person-centered approaches to help you gain clarity, build coping tools, and reconnect with a sense of stability and self-trust.
This work is for thoughtful, emotionally aware people navigating seasons of transformation. Many are new mothers rediscovering themselves after birth, survivors of early childhood trauma ready to heal old relational wounds, or individuals untangling painful relationship patterns after a breakup or years of feeling stuck. Together, we explore the unconscious stories, nervous system responses, and relational dynamics shaping your life. My approach blends depth psychology, attachment theory, embodied awareness, and a holistic view of healing to help you create a life that feels deeply aligned with who you're becoming.
Binge Eating Disorder, emotional eating, and food relationship healing is a cause close to my heart both professionally and personally. The adults I work with are cycle breakers but their relationship with food keeps them feeling burnt out when they want to feel self acceptance and open to new experiences.
My journey toward becoming a Licensed Mental Health Counselor was significantly influenced by my graduate program at Rollins College, as well as by my undergraduate years at the University of Florida. Working with emerging adults, especially those in the LGBTQ+ community, affords me the opportunity to channel my life experiences into empathy for my clients. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I recognize that mental health and well-being are informed by having the confidence and courage to live as one's authentic self. I strive to help my clients do this within the framework of the identities they hold and experiences they've had.
